Spring Cleaning your home for better VIBES

You know, I considered myself as a bit of an introvert and homebody before, but now that we have been forced to stay at home for the best part of the year I know this couldn't be further from the truth. I need to be outside!

But since we are forced to be at home for the foreseeable future, we might as well spend time into making it a safe haven and a place we can be both productive and have peace. There are plenty of low-effort tweaks you can make to turn your home into a sanctuary! Read a few tips we have discovered below.

1. NATURAL LIGHT
Working from home? Try positioning your desk in spots that get good amount of natural light. Studies show that “bright light, particularly in the morning, can improve significantly health outcomes such as depression, agitation, sleep, circadian rest-activity, and seasonal affective disorder”

2. ADD SOME PLANTS
Scientific studies show that indoor plants can have a positive impact on both mental and physiological health, including reduced stress levels, increased productivity, and lower fatigue. So go and get yourself some easy care plants to brighten up your space and your mood! Meet my new plant, her name is Khaleesi (which i think is fitting as she is a cast-iron plant) and I got her from a small black owned business called House of Kato

3. TAKE 5 MINS OUT TO STRAIGHTEN UP
Bringing a touch of organisation to your living and working spaces could have a positive impact on your brain, with visual stimuli – aka clutter – proven to contribute to distraction, which in turn can lead to feelings of lack of productivity and inadequacy. Invest in some cool storage solutions and play around with the Feng Shui rule of inviting natural textures into your home.

4. INCLUDE FENG SHUI
Introducing Feng Shui into your home helps you make the most of your living space by harmonising its energy and promotes positivity. A few tips you can add
- Place your bed facing the door (this encourages stability)
- Reserve the area under your bed to store soft clothing and linens only (this will keep the flowing energy light)
- Pay attention to your entryway, make sure its clutter free and inviting (this sets the overall tone of your space)

5. ADD A SCENT OF YOUR CHOICE
Scent has the potential to moderate different aspects of mood. Try add-on different scents that evoke happy positive feelings within your home. You can use things like candles, diffusers or room sprays to promote good energy. I personally love using the Tisserand range for organic uplifting and soothing scents to fix my moods. You can save 20% on any Tisserand product with my discount code NAOMIE20

 6. FINALLY SET THE MOOD
Take a listen to our "Home is Where it's at" playlist on Spotify to uplift your spirits whether you're working from home or doing a bit of spring cleaning.
