Aromatherapy Awareness Week

What is Aromatherapy?

For those who don’t already know, aromatherapy is the use of essential oils and plant extracts to treat a variety of different conditions. Studies have shown that the smell of some essential oils can work as a complementary therapy to treat anxiety and stress.

Inhaling the aromas from essential oils can stimulate areas of your limbic system, which is a part of your brain that plays a role in emotions, behaviours, sense of smell and long-term memory. The limbic system also plays a role in controlling some unconscious physiological functions, such as breathing, heart rate and blood pressure. Oils can also help to improve inflammatory skin conditions, like dermatitis, eczema and lupus, improve the general appearance of your skin and even aid wound healing.

I started my wellbeing journey 2 years ago now and It has been an uplifting path so far. I have enjoyed exploring new brands and trying new products depending on my needs. This week be sure to head over to Instagram and search using the hashtag #AromatherapyAwarenessWeek to get more information on brands and discover more tips on how you can incorporate Aromatherapy into your daily routine.
